Remember the super secret bunker they always use in Stargate, Deep Impact and various other films? Well, here it is. It’s official name is the Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center and is designed “to ensure 70 percent probability of continuing to function against a five megaton weapon with a three mile circular error probability”.

Did You see the size of the parking lot? Wow. It has to be at least twice the size of a Wal-Mart parking lot. And we’re talking Super Center, not one of the good ol’ fashioned Wal-Marts.

If you scroll down in that image, you can see the secondary opening. The design is intended to funnel blast forces through the outer tunnels, and away from the inner complex. It also serves as an emergency exit.
Notice the black hole to the southwest caused by experimenting with alien technology.
I brought that image into Photoshop and zoomed in a little more. I can’t be 100% certain, but I think I saw Jack O’Neal’s pickup truck in the parking lot. All the fishing gear in the back gave it away.

The first movie I remember this complex from is Wargames. The movie that got me hooked to computers and modems.

Anyone know where I could get the complex design from? I would like to develop a map for a game that will be the Cheyenne Mountain Complex.

Too bad the complex has all but closed it’s doors. It was kind of cool to think that we had a military local built into a mountain.

I beg to differ. Cheyenne Mountain is most definitely very active still. It simply has changed it’s priorities and allows less visitors now..
