Tuesday, 12th April 2005 by James

A giant postage stamp on top of Vancouver’s downtown post office (North West is up). Here’s a a normal sized stamp for comparison.

Thanks: “amaily post”

The circular building in a little bit lower and to the left is Vancouver Public Library. It was cast as the headquarters of the evil corporation in “Sixth Day”, a flick with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
So you can also file the map under Movie Locations : )

  2. 2. Saxifrage says:

Correction: Up is North, not North West. Downtown Vancouver is on a grid that is 45 degrees rotated from the N-S, E-W grid of the rest of the city, due to the shape of the peninsula.

Really? That’s odd as the maps of other cities *appear* to be orientated so that north is up and south is down.

Saxifrage, I think Shreddies meant that *up on the stamp* is north-west :-)
