The site of former U.S. President JFK’s assassination: Dealey Plaza, Texas. Caknuck (Thanks again!) breaks down the points of interest:

The grassy area in the middle of the image (where the one road forks into three) is Dealey Plaza. The group of trees directly to the right of the underpass is the infamous “Grassy Knoll”. The square beige at the center of the image is the Texas Schoolbook Depository, where Lee Harvey Oswald was perched. Two buses are passing the Depository (now home to a museum dedicated to the event) on Elm St, and roughly correspond to the location of the President’s car each time he was shot.

Regular contributor “caknuck” submitted the The Citadel in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This fort was built in the mid-19th Century to protect the British harbour city of Halifax from an American invasion. While it never faced a direct attack, the fort helped to deflect much of the blast of the devastating Halifax Explosion of 1917, saving thousands of lives of the people who lived in its shadow.
