UFO Updates

Please note that some or all of the objects mentioned in this post are no longer visible on Google Earth or Google Maps.

Thanks to everyone who commented on the original UFO find, although we’re still not sure what they are, there’s been some interesting developments.

Ian Pottinger and jher were the first to find that there are in fact eight of these UFOs over Florida, at the following points

One - Two - Three - Four - Five - Six - Seven - Eight

and Tensus used keyhole to map the points showing that they make a very neat grid.

Yoshino and jher later noticed that the UFOs are not limited to Florida but can also be found over L.A.

One - Two - Three - Four - Five - Six - Seven - Eight - Nine - Ten - Eleven - Twelve - Thirteen

and Tensus again mapped the points, which appear in an almost straight line.

Things the UFOs are definitely not…

Space debris or another satellite?

Derek & Tensus discovered that the close-up images of Florida are taken by AerialsExpress.com at an altitude of 17,500 feet so are aerial photos and not satellite images.

Marks added to obscure famous peoples homes?

While there’s no doubt the whitehouse photos were processed for security it is very unlikely these UFOs are intentional ‘cover-ups’ due to the neat grid layout.

Water towers?

The UFOs are just too big to be water towers (and there’s no shadow).

Anomaly produced by the stitching software?

Shi Ju says

Definitely they’re NOT marks for picture stitching. In most stitching software (like for making panoramas) the algorithm comes down to finding sharp and contrasting details and aligning those spots with each other.

Things the UFOs still could be…

An alien spacecraft?

It’s still possible!

A weather balloon?

Tm says

The “Grid” is centered around an airfield, common launch points for weather balloons.

Although Klem says

All currently used radiosonde devices (weather balloons) are latex, yellowish beige to transluscent

and Jello adds

The object in question here does not cast a ground effect, therefore does not exist in the air.

A ‘lenticular’ cloud?

Patrick was the first to float this idea and the images he posted do look similar to the UFOs, although it is unlikely clouds would form in neat grids.

Condensation on the lens?

Possibly the current forerunner for most likely explanation, Stuart said…

Condensation inside some sort of housing would be my guess. If the drop were directly on the lens it would be effectively invisible. Put it a few inches/feet away and have the camera shooting with a very deep depth of field (as you would with a small aperture) and it would look just like that anomaly.

Something else?

Possibly one of: Peppermint, baseball, Vogon ship, crop circle, planet, thumbtack, ballbearings, smoke, pond, swamp gas, golf ball, satellite, flying ninja, space junk or contact lens as others have suggested!

Remember that I was telling you that actually these orbs were made by Google? (I’ve given you the link to a photograph too)

Now you can actually apply a job for getting inside of them and fix them or anything you want! Here’s the google application form link:

  3. 493. staerlor says:

Using google earth you can see the copyright of the images beeing displayed. All of the images containing the “UFO” are copyrighted TeleAtlas. It’s likely all of the images were taken with the same equipment, which obviously has some sort of malfunction. The fact that they appear in grid patterns supports this.

  11. 501. Gaël Angla says:

The more I read this thead, the more I think it’s a UFO.
    The reason is simple :
    1) This is an Object.
    2) This object is Flying.
    3) No one knows what is is, so it’s Unidentified.

    Clear : UFO ;-)

  12. 502. french doctor says:

    for the french people:

je pense que la goutte d’eau est en apesanteur devant l’objectif
ce qui explique la forme spherique sur les photos

pourquoi les gouttes apparaissent par paires?
parceque le sattelite prend deux photos avec deux angles differents

la couleur bleu vient de la reflection de la mer, le blanc du soleil

  13. 503. french doctor says:

    the translation:

i think the droplet is weightless in front of the lens
that’s the explanation of the spherical shape on pictures

why do they appear by pair?
because the satellite takes two shots with two different angles

the blue color is due to the sea reflexion, the white color is due to the sun

  14. 504. Chabiscrou says:

Essa merda é falsa ! Meu amigo do serviço disse que a equipe Google colocou essas imagens para enganar os perobentos de plantão ! Que piadinha mais sem graça !

  18. 508. BirdMan says:

If you look at reference number 34.138770,-117.252660 using Google Earth, the 3D sat. system and rotating and adjusting the tilt, I think you will find as I have that there is no “depth” to this UFO. There is plenty of depth to all the surrounding buildings etc., but not to it.

Ergo, I can only conclude that it is a either a trick of light, or a sun spot on the photographing satellite lens, or some other explainable anomaly.

Believe me, I would LOVE it to be something extraterrestrial, but I am pretty sure this one isn’t! However, I CAN say with a certainty, that my wife who is a TOTAL disbeliever, DID see a real UFO many years ago in Toronto, ON. She has convinced herself that she really didn’t see it after all, but I know she did!

    E.T. - come home!

I found a new sphere situated in Peru, Nazca.
Look at this reference point :
    14°42′25.69″S
    75°13′13.85″W

Seems very similar to the other ones found in florida.

  24. 514. The Real Mc Coy says:

I found an other serie of “orbs” just NE of the ones over LA.

    Added some others too ;)

Also found scrathes where the “grid” theory should display “orbs”…

I put all of them in a KMZ file for Google Earth wich can be found here :
    http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php/Cat/0/Number/62197/page/0/vc/1

  25. 515. Alex says:

Has anyone considered that it could be a marker used by google to line up the images for their scrolling code? I know there are a lot of UFO heads around here, but it seems plausible it’s something google added either as a) a technical aid or b) an easter egg/joke of some kind. I just think it would suck if you were looking for your house and it ends up being under one of those.

  26. 516. dannyboy yeah says:

oh my god i think aliens are taking over what are we going to do, i cant come to terms with it. i need to go home to the moon. please nasa take me home, i beg you one style. pleeeeeease with cherrys on top and banana, dannyboy go home please, i beg! i beg!

  27. 517. Grassy says:

    Chris said..

a lens reflect ? condensation ? clouds ? ufo ? nobody’s thinking that it could just be a picture trick, a “photoshop-like effect, just to increase google’s new hype stuff’s popularity ?

it seems sometime we only see what we desesperatly want to see

    ———
And it’s obvious that many out there don’t want to “see” the possibility that we are under a microscope.

  28. 518. Christiaan says:

I think Alex is right about the rounds shapes (I’m intentionally not calling them moving object, because that would be just an assumption)

To Black Domina I would like to say. Check out Placemark: Google Maps / Google Earth
In this images you see the reflection of the sun in the mirror/window of a house. Because of the movement of satellite and/or rotation of eart and/or opening of window during the shutter time of the photo, the reflection is altered causing a white stroke instead of a spot.

Your image shows light reflected by airplane (which is a more complex shape then a spot already) that is multiplied a couple of times because of the same movements (satellite, rotation, flying of airplain) during the shutter time of the lens causing a couple of similarly shaped reflections being realy closed together and causing a strange shape.

  29. 519. Christiaan says:

Sorry, Black Domina, I neglected to see the dark blue copy of the artifact top left of the white reflection.

    http://joebardi.blogspot.com/2005/04/pappy-always-said-to-stay-out-of-river.html

It must be something due to the physics of lenses that allows for different wavelengths to focus at different focusdistances.

However strangely enough the left side of the white spot (airplane?) appears to have to wings whereas the blue airplane only has one wing. The extra white wing might be caused by reflection of an additional object. But I don’t understand how it would not be subject of the same physical laws and thus causing an extra left wing on the blue airplane?…..

It could by also due to the process of stitching satellite images. During that proces blurring and shifting of images occurs that explains the same shape (without the second left wing though) being a bit shifted in a different color (super imposing the water colour on white plain)

  30. 520. Holgi says:

Had anybody seen this? It looks like the “original” of all the ufo’s… Somewhere in or near Tokyo: Placemark: Google Maps / Google Earth

    Greets
    Holgi

  31. 521. philipp says:

look at this….the golden spot. what could that be

Placemark: Google Maps / Google Earth

  32. 522. DL says:

Thanks for all the interesting posts on this subject. I’ve looked through most of the comments, so if I’ve missed a post on this, apologies. I’m curious what people think of the line going from one of the “Spheres” (for lack of a better term) here,

Placemark: Google Maps / Google Earth

It appears to be shooting some sort of energy beam into a Semi-Trailor truck driving on the Hwy. If it was the Google ppl making fun of everyone, you’d think they’d put one near or at their headquarters…

Perhaps It’s Stephen S and his Alien buddies stealing movie scripts from Universal???

    DL.

  33. 523. Jahwe says:

    29 56 9.68 N 90 8 14.74W

Looks like a small plane that reflects itselfe in the water?

  34. 524. Spotter says:

philipp u have found something really weird in that picture. I think u people need to take a look:

Placemark: Google Maps / Google Earth

  35. 525. Christiaan says:

    to Holgi: building.
to philipp and Spotter: reflection of sun or bright fire/light

    :O

to Black Domina: Thanks to Jahwe who brought me on the idea. The blue plain could very well be the shadow of it (not the reflection of itself). Look at the engle between the white en blue plain. The angle is the same as the shadow of the crains. Which makes sense, because the sun makes for the shadow to be.
