A Naval Deystroyer from the 40's. It flew the Skull and Crossbones, and was famous for holding rescued pilots for ice cream mix and such. It is also one of the few WWII era ships that can still fire its guns. Further south of the bridge on the same shore is the Pete Marovich assembly center, and Tiger Stadium. If you scroll to the north, you can see the large petroleum complex situated directly in sight of the building. The flaming stacks frame the building as it is seen from I-10 - nicely illustrating what a mess big oil has made out of much of the state. The University would not allow the film to be made on UT campus so the Louisiana Capitol building was selected which looked very similar to the UT Tower.
