Paramount’s Carowinds theme park is on the border of North and South Carolina. Some of the rides look great from up here – check out the giant rollercoaster at the North-West corner, which looks like it might be the wooden ‘Hurler‘. Apparently rollercoaster junkies say that wooden ‘coasters are the best…

The IMAX Theater at the Aero Space Education Center in Little Rock, Arkansas is right next door to the runway of Little Rock National Airport so it’s obvious why they put the “IMAX” logo on the roof but I wonder how much soundproofing that place needs? (The airport is just to the north – spot the blue plane!)

Built in 1965 and once home to the Houston Astros and the Houston Oilers, the Reliant Astrodome is now part of Reliant Park and sits next to the new Reliant Stadium (to the left, still under construction in this photo), the Reliant Arena (that triangular thing below the Astrodome), and the Reliant Center (North of the Astrodome). The Astrodome is also famous for Astroturf, the artificial grass first used in the stadium and now found almost everywhere.

Rikers Island is New York City’s largest jail facility and has 15,000 inmates. The only access to (and exit from) the island is via the Rikers Island Bridge to the south.
