Caterpillar Tractor Co.

Tuesday, 7th June 2005 by Alex

Please note that some or all of the objects mentioned in this post are no longer visible on Google Earth or Google Maps.

Outside of Sun City West, Arizona are the Caterpillar Proving Grounds, where there is some extremely large type!

I wonder if the bulldozers prove themselves by digging out these letters over and over again?

Here are some more proving grounds. Unfortunately, it is a part of the map with little detail.

That is insane on how perfectly aligned the type is.

Jeff Burton… the nascar driver? I know his brother Ward used to drive the Caterpillar car, he may still I dunno.

The letters were actually raised up above the ground a little bit (a foot or so) with different material so nothing grew on them. This picture is dated because the housing development has almost completely erased the Catepillar sign over the past few months.

Sorry People that is not Sun City, Arizona. It is the Community of Verrado in Buckeye, AZ. Located at the South end of White Tanks Mountains. I live just South of I-10 in Sundance. I even found my house.
