		<description>I just spent last week there (Outer Banks, North Carolina) and saw the same planes.  There F/A-18 Hornets, mostly.  Their carrier is in harbor in the Norfolk Navy Base.  
Ironically, this is all near the site of the first flight, *ever*

A little bit north of the Tomcat is the First Flight Memorial in Kitty Hawk.</description>
