It is really a beautiful place and in summer there may be 20,000 people there on nice days. I lived in one of those apartment blocks just down from the tower on Akademika Korolova for 5 years. That tower was my view out of my 16th. floor window - and I remember when it was on fire too! I would stroll out the back and into VDNKh park for shashlik and beer in summer. Winters were great too. Moscow is a great city. I'm going back there soon. If you pan right you'll see the shadow of the rocket monument that honours the cosmonauts, and further up is the Soviet "Jack and Jill" statue made from stainless steel - it's huge!
