Sorry, this is going to be negative, but the pool is not shaped as a scimitar, which did have and do have a much thinner and longer blade (still curved and sharp on one side).

That sword is a falchion. They are much wider and MUCH heavier, and worked more like an axe than a sword. (Chopping with it's weight, rather than slashing or thrusting with it's fine edge.)

From wikipedia, "While some propose that encounters with the Islamic shamshir inspired its creation, these "scimitars" of Persia were not developed until long after the falchion."

Florida-shaped pool at Cypress Gardens was constructed on the banks of Lake Eloise for Esther Williams film "Easy to Love". *near photo top*

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=cypress+Gardens&ll=27.993037,-81.694765&spn=0.003042,0.005137&t=h&near=33884&num=10&start=0&hl=en

The pool appears to be empty in the sat photo, but you can see some excellent pics from it's heyday by searching on "Cypress Gardens pool" in Google images.

Here's a website with a whole bunch of aerial pictures of odd-shaped swimming pools (clickable thumbnails), taken in various US cities:

The Alabama Governor's mansion has a pool shaped like the state of Alabama here.

The Oklahoma Governor's mansion also supposedly has one shaped like OK but it's hard to tell in the photo.

More state shaped pools are listed here but I didn't have much luck with those that haven't already been posted.
