Storm sewer outflow near Vancouver - 4 km long.

Just south of there, two more: ferry dock about 3.5 km and Delta Superport about 5 km.

Berkeley Pier in the San Francisco Bay was a 3 mile long wooden structure extending out past the mudflats (the average depth of the Bay is only 14 feet) to allow trollies to reach incoming SF ferries. Currently 1 mile of it is paved and used for fishing.

Busselton jetty is a great place but it is in a bad state of repair so the train is no longer running. It is a long walk but the undersea observatory is well werth the effort.

Those are not jetties. They are piers. A Jetty is a protective structure that blocks the tide and waves. (ussually made of rock or concrete) A pier is a floating, or fixed above the water structure that alows the water to pass undernieth. Six years in the Coast Guard, taught me something.

Here are the Galveston Texas Jetties, one of which is 7 miles long.

Acording to the U.S. Army corps of engineers, they are the longest in the world: http://www.swg.usace.army.mil/items/whatwedo/10.asp Good fishin too!

The Pier at Southport, UK is really long as it starts inland somewhat - the image on google maps is not high res though but I worked it out as over 600 metres long. A train runs along that too.

When you get to the end there's a really boring visitors centre. It's such an anti climax.
