Another cool thing about Red Rocks.... if you are lucky enough to go to a nearby high schoool, they have graduation ceremonies at Red Rocks! My brother, sister, and I all graduated from Bear Creek HS and had the graduation ceremony at Red Rocks.... I got to be on the same stage that u2 was on!

My husband was stationed at Lowry AFB in Denver during the early sixties and we used to go to Red Rocks almost every weekend. I have seen Peter, Paul & Mary, Peter & Gordon, Chuck Berry, The Smothers Brothers, Bill Cosby and many others that I can't remember in that remarable place. Two interesting things I can remember happening: when Peter, Paul & Mary performed there, Mary had to leave the stage several times to get oxygen, she was really uncomfortable in the altitude. Chuck Berry started his act and it began to rain. He was going to stop when he realized no-one in the audience had left. He said "well, if all you all are goin' to stay, then I'm going stay too." Then went backstage for a raincoat and finished his show (of course to standing ovations). Red Rocks is a don't miss spot if you are in the area, and if you are lucky enough to catch a performance - that too is unforgetable.

Hey !
Just wanted to say having lived in Morrison, Co back in the 60's, I enjoyed so many great entertainers as well as entertainment and that includes the Beatles "WOW"(early 60's) At Red Rocks Ampitheater. Each time I return to visit old friends and to see how Red Rocks Ampitheater has evolved into what it is today is truly fantastic. What a rare unique place for locals to enjoy a great night's entertainment out under a blanket of western stars all in a natural setting. Red Rocks Ampitheater truly makes a memory you'll remember for the rest of your life ! ... ask any old hippy

Because DIA is so new, the tire-strike areas on the runways from landings are well-defined and clean (so far). Looks like the east-west runways only handle landings in one direction each, while the north-south ones have had both.

"wow, that runway at DIA is scary — why don’t they use any of the other runways?> I thought they built DIA to make things move faster, not slower."

There's probably a strong wind blowing from the west, so aircraft are taking off and landing into the wind. The runway toward which all of those aircraft are taxiing is one of only two east-west runways, and the other one, at the north of the airport, is probably being used for landings (in fact you can see an apparently just-landed plane on it).

Scrolling around the area to Denver Int'l Airport I found a rather busy taxiway:

http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=39.843884,-104.684086&spn=0.007497,0.015044&t=k&hl=en

Scroll up for more aircraft heading to this runway for takeoff. I count a total of 15. Isn't air travel fun?

> you might recognise Red Rocks from the U2 live video and album “Under a Blood Red Sky.

Not to mention Neil Young's "Road Rock Volume 1" DVD and album...
