Japanese Ferris Wheels
Daikanransha is a 115m Ferris Wheel on Odaiba, a island in Tokyo bay built on reclaimed land. There’s all sorts of cool looking buildings on Odaiba so have a good scroll around, I haven’t a clue what any of them are though.
Although not the elusive ‘World’s Largest Ferris Wheel‘ I think Daikanransha lays claim to the title of ‘world’s second largest’, with the previously posted Texas Wheel coming in 3rd place (Remember, the London Eye doesn’t count!).
Again, not the world’s largest, but here’s another cool ferris wheel in Japan. Can anyone name this one?

It’s called “Dai-kanransha of diamonds and flowers” in Kasai Seaside Park.
It is named after its illumination patterns.

They claim that comparing the weight, it’s worth 5G carrat of diamond!
Yep, the semi-official name (according to the site) is the “Kasai Rinkai Park Diamond & Flowers Giant Wheel.”
Nifty name, no?

As far as I know (and that’s not always so far) the world’s largest ferris wheel is at Tempozan in Osaka. Unfortunately, they have not yet provided detailed Osaka aerial data. When they do, watch out, I’m gonna flood this site with interesting places and things in Osaka

In google Earth, that area is completely empty!
And I thought that the London Eye (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Eye) is currently the worlds largest ferris wheel… Although the Wiki entry states correctly that it will not take long for this to change.

Here’s another unique feature of the Chicago waterfront a few panels northwest of Andy Lester’s suggested Ferris Wheel. Anyone know what it is?

As you can tell from the above map, the World’s largest ferris wheel is in fact a thin white blob:

Both areas appear completely empty in my copy of GoogleEarth, even when exactly alinged with GoogleLocal.
The ferris wheels weren’t destroyed, were they?

This is off topic, but I was looking around there and found the odaiba Placemark: parking lot / Google Earth where they have D1. Pretty cool.
