Six huge towers hold power lines crossing the Saint Lawrence River, they’re quite cool. If you follow the lines to the north you’ll find another six not-so-huge towers as the lines have to cross another part of the river. Now who can be bothered following them all the way to the power plant? :D

Laredo Monster Flag

Just beside the International bridge between Laredo, Texas and Nuevo Laredo, Mexico we find this gigantic Mexican flag, the way it sticks out the earth makes it look like something out of a cartoon.

This is one of a few flags which has been placed on the USA-Mexico border by the Mexican Army and is 28.6 x 50 m, weighing 350 kg, and hoisted on a flag pole 103m tall. Presumably in response to the Mexican flag there is a smaller USA flag sticking out of a building just to the north (more on the flags).

Sever’s Corn Maze 2002-2003

Please note that some or all of the objects mentioned in this post are no longer visible on Google Earth or Google Maps.

Sever’s Corn Maze in Shakopee (outside of Minneapolis) is an annual maze which is apparently the largest in the united states. The Google Maps photo was taken sometime in 2002-2003 when the maze depicted an upside-down map of the world, perhaps because opposite magnetic poles attract? (Maze homepage.)

The Berlin Victory Column (Siegessäule) was constructed to celebrate the military successes of Prussia over Denmark. In 1938 Hitler moved it from its place in front of the Reichstag to the centre of Tiergarten where it stands today.

The Victory Column stands at 61.5m high and is topped by the golden statue of the victory goddess Viktoria. In the column’s shadow you can make out shape of the goddess’s wings.

God’s Wisdom

In Barre, Massachusetts there’s the giant words “God’s Wisdom” written on the ground. To the north is a large cross which looks like it might be drawn using white rocks and further north a building which I’m assuming is a church.
