The colourful tiled roof Hexa Grace is the artistic creation of Victor Vasarely, who is famed as the father of Op-Art. (Close-up photo.)

The green roofed building to the North West is the famed Casino Monte Carlo.

Wow, that’s rather pretty looking from up here… makes you wonder if GoogleMaps got the colors right.

What is “Op-Art”? And does anyone know of any ground-level shots of this building?

  2. James says:

[Op-Art][1] is “a term used to described certain paintings made primarily in the 1960s which exploit the fallibilty of the eye through the use of optical illusions.”

Cool – you can trace out the track they use for the Monte Carlo Grand Prix

Checkout also the really cool freeway/motorway that runs out from the city – the engineers obviously had a minimum number of bridges and tunnels to build in order to break some record!

I am pretty damn sure i suggested that about 1/2 to a year ago

Sorry Rob, Your submission was “This is the Centre de congrès auditorium in beautiful and expensive Monaco” which I thought was talking about a different building.

    Thanks to you too.
