Just to the south of the East Side Gallery, is the really cool looking Oberbaumbrücke, or Oberbaum Bridge, which at the time this photo was taken, seems to have two bright yellow metro trains crossing it. In fact, there’s also a train shown on the bridge in this photo on Wikipedia.

There’s also a PLANE Placemark: here / Google Earth, and more trains to the near west. Those Germans love their transportation!
Is that plane flying?
It looks like it is on display- maybe something to do with the building next to it?
Norhtern Git, apparently that’s a [Junkers Ju-52][2] (”Tante Ju”) that is used today for [commemorative flights][3].

I think the opening scene of the famous Leni Reifensteil film ‘Triumph of the Will’ shows a important historical figure (who we are not allowed to mention) arriving in a Ju-52.
You would have to pay me to get up in a 60 year old plane - but i suppose that its still flying after 60 years shows they were doing something right.
Take a look at the airfield to the west, two parallel runways, a lorge concrete embankment and road around the entire field but no planes parked or facilities. Anybody have any idea what’s up with this place?
Bob - do you mean this place? Placemark: Google Maps / Google Earth It does have planes up in the North West of the field on the white tarmac - quite a few actually. Although I don’t know anything about the airport itself, it certainly appears quite active.
This airport is called Tempelhof, it is quite active, and if you watch carefully, you will see a big building in a shape of 1/4 of a circle, in the north west of the area.
