Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud, honoured, humbled, overawed and delighted to present, the permanent home and location of today’s 78th annual Academy Awards, Hollywood California’s Kodak Theater!

And just outside is the Hollywood Walk of Fame, dotted with over 2000 stars marked with the names of celebrities honoured for their contributions to the entertainment industry.

More info on the Oscars, the Kodak Theater and the Hollywood Walk of Fame over at Wikipedia.

Please note that some or all of the objects mentioned in this post are no longer visible on Google Earth or Google Maps.

A few weeks ago various news sources picked up the story of a Flying Car in Google Earth. It looks to me like it’s more hovering than actually flying but it definitely resembles a normal car, although I can’t be certain if it’s a DeLorean or not.

To feed the conspiracy theorists commenter Roy has discovered that this is not an isolated case as there’s another example further to the south. Do you all still think it’s a canopy?

Chubu Centrair International Airport

Opened just last year on a specially built man made island Centrair International Airport is Japan’s third off-shore airport and is shaped like a capital “D” so that currents inside the bay will flow freely around the island. The airport’s opening coincided with the 2005 World Expo in Aichi so you should be able to follow the tram line all the way to the Expo site.

If you browse around the site there’s quite a few things to see, including a Plane taking off, the Control Tower, a Giant Apple and some shellfish farms.

It seems that some evil genius has invented a shrink-ray, and the first thing he shrunk was the whole of Australia! Well, it was too big anyway.

Perhaps the captain of this barge on the Mississippi has had a little too much to drink, as he appears to have crashed into the river bank. Whoops!

Thanks to Sam Phillips.
