Now this is truly “Large Type” - Perscombinatie printing works in Amsterdam print a lot of newspapers, so when they were decorating the car park they opted for a neat newspaper-like 6 column layout. Brilliant! Submitter “Koos van den Hout” helpfully provided us with a translation for the headlines:

  • “Entree” = “Entrance”
  • “Afhalen kranten” = “Pick-up newspapers”
  • “Parkeren vrachtwagens tot 5m” = “Parking trucks up to 5 metres”
  • “Papier” = “Paper”
  • “Aanvoer goederen” = “Supply Goods”
  • “Uitgang” = “Exit”

Thanks: Koos van den Hout

  2. Alex says:

    lol, that’s totally awesome.

  3. Peter says:

It’s surprising that the parking lot is so empty, given that a newspaper operates on a more or less 24/7 basis.

  4. Tim says:

What about “Papier” and “Aanover goederen”?

  5. Alex says:

And ‘ultgang’ too! (Although I’m guessing ‘exit’…)

  6. James says:

Babelfish power! I’ve updated this post with the translations.

  7. Jeroen Hoppenbrouwers says:

Perscombinatie does not /edit/ newspapers, they /print/ them. And therefore their parking lot will be mostly empty during daylight times. It likely is full between midnight and 06:00…
