This is Todaiji Temple in Japan, which is reputedly the largest wooden building in the world and houses another very large Buddha (under a roof though - how inconsiderate).
Actually, I could well believe this is indeed the biggest wooden building, as Europe’s largest wooden building would probably fit into Todaiji’s courtyard.

I’ll been to Todaiji, its amazing. Pictures dont do it justice. You have to go there youself.
Whats more amazing is that its only 2/3rds the size of the original that burned down a long time ago.
I was actually there just yesterday! It really is an amazing place, and these satellite images simply don’t do it justice. If you’re ever in Japan, you should definitely try to make it to Nara to visit this temple.
I’ve been there a few times, incredible to see in person. Nara in general is a great place to visit for the day if you happen to be in that end of Japan.
Tillamook Air Museum measures 192 feet high and 296 feet wide, and is 1,072 feet long.
Todaiji Temple measures 188 feet on the front and rear, 166 feet on the sidewalls, and 157 feet top to bottom.
You can easily fit 6 Todaiji Temples inside the Tillamook Air Museum. In terms of square footage the Tillamook Air Museum is more than ten times the size of Todaiji.

i think the largest wooden building in the world is the Tai He Palace which is in the forbidden city of china.
well,maybe i made a mistake,sorry….
The Todaiji in Japan is the largest wooden structure, the TaiHe Palace in China is the largest copper palace.
i was wondering, for those who have been there, you walk through the front gate, and than are there those large 5 story buildings called pagodas or something? and than straight ahead is the todaiji temple? because ive been looking for some information on it and its all very different. if you could give me any details that would help me out a lot! thanks
