The Taijitu is far better known by the name of the principle which it represents, Yin and Yang - a concept originating in ancient China which describes all things as being composed of two opposing but complementary forces. From Wikipedia:

One cannot exist without the other. For example, day cannot exist without night. Light cannot exist without darkness.

How fitting that it should appear, as if by magic, here in a pool of water on the edge of the Saharan desert.

Please note that some or all of the objects mentioned in this post are no longer visible on Google Earth or Google Maps.

It’s a little difficult to describe this thing which has been plopped into the middle of Bodensee (Lake Constance), Germany, as anything but a gigantic water pancake.

Has a meteorite crashed into the lake? Or has someone been crying over the images again? Over to you guys! :D

No, not that kind of aliens! Just on the American side of the U.S. and Mexico border there’s 5 police cars who appear to have pulled over a truckful of illegal immigrants.

Almost a million illegal immigrants make it over each year and most become agricultural laborers, making up 45% of the workforce.

This passenger jet over Newark, California, has become very strangely warped.

I think this is something to do with the angles involved between the plane, the earth and the satellite, but trying to figure it out is making my head hurt! Can any of our loyal readers give us a decent explanation?

Thanks to Dawn Endico.

Is this thing on?

It’s been a rollercoaster week with all the Digg traffic, most of which I knew nothing about as I’ve been on holiday, but Alex has been doing an stellar job keeping the site up as much as possible.

Now that I’ve returned we’ve agreed to upgrade to a newer, even more powerful dedicated server, and if you’re reading this post then it appears to be working!

We’re confident this new server can handle it, so keep on linking to the Topless Sunbather and make sure you Digg the story and we’ll get some new sights online in the next couple of days.
