The owner of Casas Bahia wants to have as many stores as possible, so there’s always a store near you, he flies with his helicopter (or used to) and wants to easily spot all his stores so he can plan where to open the next one. That’s why they are numbered in the roof. And of course he’s been doing that much longer then satellite images were commercially available.
