You found the legendary Peoria Death Ray... The planes were literally vaporized, leaving nothing behind but their shadows... like an atomic bomb...

The shadowing you are seeing is from the condensation formed by the skin of the aircraft. At altitude, the aircraft is "cold Soaked" to very cold Temps. When the aircraft returns to warmer air, condensation forms like that on a pop can in the summer and drips onto the ramp.

i think the reason for the dark spots on the ground was water from washing the planes, notice how there is none in the middle, just on the outsides.

I'm thinking that the technical reason for these missing planes is something to the effect of the temperture on the ground.
The planes were sitting there loading passengers shortly before the picture was taken, and because they were sitting there so long, the shadow cooled the concrete to a degree that's noticeably different....???
Upon a closer look, I see that the middle of the "shadow" is kind of ...not there....warmed up...so now I'm thinking that maybe they washed the planes, loaded the passengers, and because the temp was cooler in the shadow the concrete was still wet from the washing, where the warm uncovered area evaporated already.

just my $.02 :)
