If you want to know where "interesting" buildings or installations are in the Netherlands, just start looking for blurry patches with straight edges.

Some installations that couldn't even be seen are now painfully obvious (like a couple of antennas behind a fence in the middle of a field)....

There are over 200 areas in NL which have been blurred out - you're really not missing anything being unable to see some boring government buildings. In Summary:

Giant seal = interesting.
Blurry building = not interesting.

Nikita - the difference is that seals are cute and look up at you with big brown eyes just before you cave their heads in, where as cockroaches tend to try and bite you in the neck and rip your heart out as you try and kill them (well the cockroaches in my old bedsit did anyway!)

Are you sure this isnt the Netherlands equivalent of Edinburgh's trampoline craze?
Perhaps one person got one and then everyone got 'seal envy' and needed to have one.
I'm sure you can bounce up on down on these giant blow up seals, which is great because in my experience real baby seals arent very bouncy when you jump up and down on them!*

* that is joke btw before you seal huggers get on my case! I love baby seals (especially with some steamed vegetables and a fine Chianti*)

*another joke - i'm a vegetarian really!

Uh.. i read "Fund for Animal Warfare" first oO

Maybe those seals are one and the same? The guy who made it might have tested it in his garden before when the satellite flew over. Then the satellite or plane or whatever did another shot from the place where it's now.
btw Your links are both leading to the garden-version although I could swear they worked correctly a minute ago... strange.

Btw I don't think shooting seals is always a bad thing. If there are too many of them - why not? If the cockroach gets in danger of extinction I'd really like to see Paul McCartney and his wife lying next to some roaches with a smile on their faces. *gg*
(This of course doesn't mean you can kill seals inhumanly!)

A seal is a "seadog" in Dutch, so your guard dog theory might be correct.
