I've gotten to where I can tell which helicopter from which hospital is flying over my apartment just from the sound. That's about the only air traffic I ever hear. I can still hear the roar of the thrust reversers mixing with the thunder from the drag strip two miles away (Saturday! Sunday! Funny Cars!). So now, I live at the intersection of two major surface streets, and my wife wonders why the noise doesn't bother me... Ahh, memories…I grew up about 7 miles from a major international airport, long before noise abatement rules. I lived under a flightpath in Sydney for 2 years and the entire house would shake when the jumbos came in to land. It was one of the best places I ever lived. And no, I am not being sarcastic.
