An unapplied handbrake is also unlikely as a cause of this mishap for the simple reason that the road in question is as flat as a tabletop

One strange thing about the situation is the way the women are standing around the opened trunk. What’s the point in opening the trunk that way right after a crash?

A small correction - judging by the map, it looks as if this crash is not in the Minneapolis suburbs, but within the city limits. And in the low-rent part of town, for that matter.

It is pretty difficult to get injured in a Mercedes E at speeds that are at least near the legal limits for city traffic. You would really have to plan ahaed.
