I would hope that on an estate that size, he has a better place to park his cars than in the grass, so maybe they are the workers' cars? Or takes a power-boat at two miles an hour down the Thames to give a comparison with other forms of transport getting across London (in order, for those interested, cycle, boat, metro, car).
