World’s Largest Buried Arse

The Danish town of Fredericia is under attack!

A 35 metre tall giant is (admittedly very slowly), clawing his way out of the earth to wreak havoc upon the defenceless surface-dwelling Danes. So far the terrifying creature has only managed to completely free his hands, but he’s threatening to break the rest of himself through at any moment.

Which means that we have the unique opportunity to present a very special award; this is, without doubt, quite probably the world’s largest arse!

While we’re unclear whether or not visitors may take a picnic onto the grass, we’re sure that the giant’s giant-butt-crack would afford a reasonable amount of shelter from the wind if someone chose to attempt such a thing…

This isn’t the only example of giants breaking free from their underground lairs - over in Washington D.C. another giant is clawing his way out of the ground, watched by a crowd of onlookers (Wikipedia).

Given that he’s managed to expose a little more of himself, perhaps we should be grateful that he chose to emerge face first…

I know ive cracked this ‘joke’ before but i must point out that in the absence of Mrs Cookie Monster’s arse appearing on GE then i suppose this does qualify as the worlds biggest arse.

In other news - what is the fortified like structure(s) to the east? A jazzy looking moat with Roman type buildings within. Anyone know?

Here is a livemaps shot of the arse the view from the head to feet is cool, you can easily see the hand reaching out of the surface.

@ cookie - a side by side comparison indicates it is a mini-replica of Fredericia.

You can see the port area and fortification shape are similar and if you zoom in to the south east corner of both you can see the similarities there as well.
The mini-city has been covered by googleearthhacks here…

pretty sure that statue was in the Sandra Bullock movie “The Net”. pretty forgettable movie - the statue is about all that’s stuck in my memory.

The Awakening (the statue in DC) has since been moved to the National Harbor in Prince George’s County. Imagery in that area has not been updated yet, unfortunately. The Washington Post had a GREAT overhead shot of the giant’s face, on a trailer, as it was moved to National Harbor - his expression seemed to say, “Where are they taking me?” (The coordinates on the Wikipedia page refer to the old location, unfortunately.)
