You must drop a pin on the place you want to view in street view (you can do this by going to the location and in the bottom right corner of the screen there is an icon that looks like a post-it peeled up) after you have done that click on the pin and you will see an icon with a man figure in a orange circle click on that and you will have street view

Essential, indeed. Imagine, now you can immediately check if the world around you is a good approximation of what you see on Street View ;)

The new Street View icon is the leftmost icon on a pin label.
So drop a pin, and touch the pin to display the pin label. On the left side of the label there is a new icon, a white silhouette on an orange background. If the area you are viewing has Street View data, the icon is active, otherwise it is dim.
Touch the icon to zoom in into Street View mode, pan and zoom, and touch the bottom-right maps circle to get out of Street View into maps.

Ross: for some reason, the iPod touch 2.2 software doesn't have Street View enabled!

However, there's reports of an easy hack to manually enable Street View.

I updated my iPod touch with the new software, but can't figure out how to use Street View. Does it only work with the iPhone for some reason?

I found a few help forums online that said there should be a Street View icon when you drop a pin, but my maps application still looks exactly the same as it did before the software update, and I don't see a Street View icon when I drop a pin.

Is anyone else noticing the same thing?
