Like Simon said, the satellite quality and coverage is pretty bad for the majority of NZ and some parts are definitely over two years out of date. A lot of the street imaging in Christchurch (my city) seems to have been taken very early in the morning due to a general lack of traffic and people around for a lot of it. I wish Google had informed me when they were going past my house so I could have tidied the hedges a little :) I was so excited when I noticed this during my routine use of Google maps!
