Oh dear, it seems the workers at Southwest Office Systems in Fort Worth have been attacked by Zombies, and in their desperation have painted “SOS” on the rooftop. Maybe someone should go and rescue them?

If you do valiantly go to slay some undead then I’d watch out for Spanish nerd zombies – the trapped also wrote “Vaya Con Dios”, meaning “Go With God” and “Sharp”, a well-known calculator manufacturer.

Omar’s Public Service Announcements

In the hills over Afghanistan a man named Omar has very kindly chosen to let the whole world know exactly where he is standing. Just to the left of the arrow under the giant word “ME“.

Omar is probably also responsible for the nearby large type stating “NO DRUGS“; a worthwhile message as (since the Taliban were toppled in 2001), worldwide drug use has soared, and Afganhistan is on its way back to once again becoming the world’s largest heroin producer.

Dolphin Pool

Take your pick from either a pool of dolphins or a dolphin-shaped pool.

The image of dolphins in a pool was captured from Google Earth, where you can also clearly make out a crowd gathered round a dolphin at the side of the pool, possibly being fed by a keeper.

If you prefer your dolphin in the wild, then perhaps Australia would be a better bet?

Thelma Will U Marry Me?

Here at McAllen-Miller International Airport, Texas, someone has asked Thelma to marry them by writing an enormous proposal along one of the airport’s access roads.

However, I half hope that Thelma declined this particular offer, on the the grounds that if the potential suitor couldn’t be bothered writing the word “you” in full, then they weren’t worth marrying. They also very annoyingly switched to lowercase letters in the middle of a word!

Of course this isn’t the first marriage proposal that’s been found on Google, but it definitely is the most ambitious – the proposals to D by person unknown, Melissa by Uxmal, and of course the one done by the unnamed person who wasn’t even sure who they wanted to marry, are all far smaller.

Of course if anyone were to actually adhere to my newly-invented “guidelines for acceptance of aeroplane-visible marriage proposals”, then only Melissa would have accepted, as Uxmal is the only suitor to have not switched case incorrectly or leave out any letters. Good work Uxmal, but perhaps you should go a little bigger next time.

Have you ever wondered what kind of camera takes the aerial photographs Google use? Well, at least in Anchorage, Alaska, the company taking the pictures uses a Zeiss RMK TOP 15 Aerial Survey Camera System.
