This is the site of Black Rock City, which is built and torn down every year for the week long annual Burning Man festival.

Chach says:

Looks like this was flown shortly before the festival.. the street grid and intial construction of some core buildings is underway

No, that’s not the surface of the moon. It’s where the US government has blown-up lots and lots of things at the “Nellis Air Force Bombing and Gunnery Range” in Nevada, just south-west of Area 51. Also, scroll north and check out that big bad-boy crater.

Thanks to “eugene” for pointing out even more crazy stuff further to the north. Including this massive target, I assume for practice bombing.

By far the most submitted link is to the notorious Area 51. Props go to Andy who was the first of many to point us in the right direction, cheers mate :-D Travis added:

Scroll to the south-west and find that pock-marked stretch of desert. That’s where our government tested nuclear weapons.

Las Vegas Strip

Some of Las Vegas’ top casinos all in one image. There’s the Sahara top left, then New York, New York below that (complete with Statue of Liberty on the corner). Eastward of NY is the MGM Grand (which looks quite unimpressive from above). The castle-like building with the red and blue turrets is Excalibur and opposite that is the Tropicana. Southward there’s the unmissable Luxor pyramid and lastly Mandalay Bay.
