Berlin Victory Column

The Berlin Victory Column (Siegessäule) was constructed to celebrate the military successes of Prussia over Denmark. In 1938 Hitler moved it from its place in front of the Reichstag to the centre of Tiergarten where it stands today. The Victory Column stands at 61.5m high and is topped by the golden statue of the victory goddess Viktoria. In the column’s shadow you can make out shape of the goddess’s wings.
