Dealey Plaza, Texas

The site of former U.S. President JFK's assassination: Dealey Plaza, Texas. Caknuck (Thanks again!) breaks down the points of interest:
The grassy area in the middle of the image (where the one road forks into three) is Dealey Plaza. The group of trees directly to the right of the underpass is the infamous "Grassy Knoll". The square beige at the center of the image is the Texas Schoolbook Depository, where Lee Harvey Oswald was perched. Two buses are passing the Depository (now home to a museum dedicated to the event) on Elm St, and roughly correspond to the location of the President's car each time he was shot.
Two blocks southeast of the Depository building, you’ll see what looks like a small, white open-ended box. That is the Kennedy Memorial.
Just off the southern edge of the photo is Reunion Tower. This is the tower they show on most professional sports broadcasts that looks like a tee-ball stand with Christmas lights.
Is it just me, or is the filing of this one under “Movie Locations” kinda tasteless?
Apologies for causing any offence, I’ve changed this to be filed under “buildings” (which doesn’t really fit either :-/ )
How about a new category… “Events”
Nice, but since Oswald was in the second floor lunchroom and didn’t shoot at anybody, I wouldn’t say he was “perched” there.
this is really interesting…i came across your site whilst surfing around and enjoyed all the posts. Here in bonnie Scotland we read about all this stuff but it’s great to see it on the satellite pics.
Hey countrygrrl, this site is produced is Edinburgh, Scotland 🙂
she’s probably right down the street
The building down and to the right in the thumbnail, at the corner of Main & Houston, is the Records Building and used to include the county jail. And that’s where Jack Ruby died. It was also the destination of Lee Harvey Oswald, before Jack Ruby shot him. What was then City Hall was also the city jail and that’s where JR shot LHO

Also, the Texas Theatre where LHO was arrested has been restored.
