Las Vegas Strip

Some of Las Vegas' top casinos all in one image. There's the Sahara top left, then New York, New York below that (complete with Statue of Liberty on the corner). Eastward of NY is the MGM Grand (which looks quite unimpressive from above). The castle-like building with the red and blue turrets is Excalibur and opposite that is the Tropicana. Southward there's the unmissable Luxor pyramid and lastly Mandalay Bay.
It’s interesting to compare the chrysler building in the New York New York casino with the real thing!
That’s actually the Luxor. I got it wrong when I first looked at it, too. 😉
Yup, that’s the Luxor. Who said it wasn’t?
Ah. Sorry. I missread. Thought you were saying it was the MGM 😉
Actually the Sahara is not in the picture. It’s the Monte Carlo you can see the edge of above NY NY.
The Luxor is actually the 4th largest pyramid in the world – although it must be said that the 3 above it are MUCH older.
Is is me, or does it look a bit lop-sided in this picture?
A bit north you can see the lake for the Belagio’s fountain show – unfortunately it’s not operating in the photo, as it’s quite impressive. I managed to see it from the air once, about 2 in the morning on a flight from LAS to Phoenix.

The wonderful thing about Google maps is you can take a place you thought you knew and find you were completely wrong. I always believed “the strip” to be on the outskirts of the city in the desert, when in reality it is in the city surrounded by buildings. I suppose the whole area around the strip was desert at one time tho. Also, is the strip and the gambling resorts all confined to this one area or can smaller casinos be found throughout the city: and do the year around residents look at the the resorts as separate from city life,(schools, churches, businesses) or are they all somehow interrelated? Thanks
Is it sad that I thought that the makers GTA San Andreas had really did a good job remaking Las Vegas?
I was in the Luxor hotel 2004 and i enjoy so much …I love vegas!!! i will return again in august 06. I am from South America and really its the most espectacular city in the world! THANK U SO MUCH
Please update your Las Vegas Nevada images more regularly. Vegas changes daily and it would be cool to keep up with the changes. Thanks
