Carowinds theme park
Thursday, 5th May 2005 by Alex Turnbull
Paramount's Carowinds theme park is on the border of North and South Carolina. Some of the rides look great from up here - check out the giant rollercoaster at the North-West corner, which looks like it might be the wooden 'Hurler'. Apparently rollercoaster junkies say that wooden 'coasters are the best...
Thanks to Adrian Likins for this one.
Business not too good, huh?
(with reference to the sunny day and empty car park)
they’re only open on weekends from roughly memorial day to labor day, like a lot of other amusement parks (except disney) so my guess would be its a weekday in spring or early, so the sun is shining but the park isn’t open.
I actually live right down the road from there. We have season passes to Carowinds, and Beth is right. They’re open during the summer every day, but in the Spring & Fall, only on weekends. They’re closed all winter. That is the Hurler. Also, that strange squarish river thing you see in the center used to be an old-time Mark Twain paddle boat, but now it is the Borg rollercoaster, and metal green thing. Hopefully they’ll update the picture soon. Also, that greenish, swampy squarish thing is the Big Wave Pool in the water park. My guess is, since it’s green, the pic was probably taken in the Winter, cuz it’s bright, swimming-pool, blue when you go there in the summer.
Whaa? They got rid of the paddleboat? {sniff, sniff…}
And while we’re talking about wooden roller-coasters – the original Carowinds wooden coaster “Thunder Road” is the long East-West one across the southwestern side of the park. You don’t notice it until you look for it.
it sucks that they closed the paddle boat, i go there every 2 weeks or so, hey you can almost see the tree(thats where all the “goth” people used to hang out, before the nazi corporation banned us. i wish theyd update these pictures more often, the one of my house is about 7 years old. and i cant seem to find area 51, hmm.
