The images of the lake were very obviously taken during the winter months, you can tell by the surrounding countryside. Also, if you zoom out to ~20,000 feet and scroll to the south a bit you can see other images of the southern reaches of the same lake taken during the summer months. These other images to the south were very obviously taken during the spring/summer or possibly early fall, as the trees are green and have not yet turned the autumn colors.
So, now that I’ve established that these images are of the lake in winter time. Look at the edges of the darkened area. The pictures were taken during a winter that was not particularly fierce and the center of the lake never got a chance to fully freeze. You can even see areas around the distortion in question that are not frozen and yet do not exhibit the ‘circuit board’ effect.
Now for the people that are saying this is some kind of thermal imaging taken from a satellite or some other such device. Well, I don’t know enough about satellite technology to tell you about that. I can tell you that as others have mentioned already, much of the terrain viewed below a certain ‘eye altitude’ in this program is not satellite photography but instead an aircraft taking pictures from high altitude. Why would anyone do this if they’ve got perfectly good satellites orbiting over this area you ask? For the same reason they put a robot on mars with a camera, satellites take crappy, unreliable pictures when compared to aerial photography.
As far as the grid pattern in these images, its anyone’s guess. If you really want to believe that there is an alien civilization living in this lake and it was picked up in the pictures… I think that’s a stretch. Why would this only be picked up in the larger portions of the images at the lake’s center and not be in the smaller pockets of unfrozen water nearer to the lake’s shoreline? It doesn’t make sense does it?
Also, this is very obviously a reservoir that has at least some small remnants of human civilization under it. This happens when they build many reservoirs, and this lake is no exception. You can see evidence of this if you zoom out and look for SW 208th Street which clearly bisects the lake and was once a road going through this area. Another road worth looking at is County Road 303 on the western side of the lake. This road can be seen going right up to a smaller leg of the lake and turning around on both sides. You can still see the darkened lines leading up to the lakeshore that mark where this road used to go.
This lake also exhibits all the other tell tale signs of a reservoir made by man. The water has filled up the existing valleys in the terrain and branched out into the surrounding countryside very far to the south. Furthermore, it is in very close proximity to a large metropolitan area(Kansas City).
I’d much sooner believe that this was some bored hacker or Google employee with far too much time on their hands(much like myself) than I would believe that there is an alien civilization under this lake and that not only did the people that used to live in this area fail to discover it, but that just now is someone noticing it with the advent of this program.
Please, have some respect for yourself and go try to prove aliens exist with a more credible story. It isn’t that hard that you should have to reach for something like this that is so easily proved wrong.

No Philip A*, if that was a reflection of the sattelite, same thing would have happened to every single lake on earth. In my last post ( 5 posts up ) I’ve explained what this is all about and I know its a fact. Accept it! its either that, or aliens, you decide!!!

It’s Smithville lake. Located a few miles north of Kansas City, MO. I’ve spent many summer days and nights hunting, fishing golfing, swimming and boating in and around it. It was built by the corp of engineers and there are a couple small abandoned towns as well as some farm homes under the water. The main channel is only about 60 feet deep, so I doubt if there is anything sinister down there.

Jeez you guys – I guess I’m the only person who watched the special features on the anniversary DVD? This is where all of the sets were constructed and eventually left mostly intact after Disney filmed TRON here back in the early 80’s! If you look close you can still see the MCP computer tower still standing.

Back in the day at the People’s Temple, I drank the Kool-Aid of Jim Jones only to awaken with an intolerable headache and Morley Safer poking at me with a stick. I have found proof this is an alien lake!
For all you disbelievers out there here is irrefutable proof this is indeed an alien lake. Do a Google image search for the Army Corps of Engineers. Take a good hard look at the A C of E’s logo. Now invert your monitor (note you may want to try this with a laptop and inverting a laptop is much easier, but with persistence it can be accomplished with a CRT screen). Now study the A C of E’s logo. Look familiar?
OK, squint and try relaxing your brain, now do you see it?
Clear as the nose on your face, the A C of E’s logo is no longer an inverted castle face is it? It is a pixilated alien. Just like those from Space Invaders and Gorf. I tell you this is true! The “castle tops� is where the blasters are located so keep an eye on them.

It is nothing! Really! First of all the pic is simply damaged. And at a closer look you can see that the colors and shapes of nearly each street or field are inverted… This is why there can’t be any Alien City or sth like this…unfortunately!

It is obviously the dinosaurs! The dinosaurs were able to evolve enough after being on this world for some millions of years. They blasted off and have been conducting research on us by hacking into the matrix. They just happened to have lifted off part of the continental crust and forgot to put it back before the plane/sat flew over to take a picture.

The imaging is detailed aerial photography, but the photographs taken were probably stretched and rotated to make the images fit the curvilinear (north-south, east-west) tiles the map software uses. Some of the smears in the lake are not precisely NS/EW aligned, so this suggests that the pheomenon is not a postproduction effect: it was visible to the camera. Plane paths are usually NS/EW so that registration (the process of aligning the image) is simpler. Photos aren’t normally taken vertically though as sometimes stereoscopic analysis is desired.
To explain the colour smears as crystalline interference on a frozen lake, you would have to show how to get enormous crystals of rectangular lattice, that also happened to be oriented to the curvilinear axes. Ice lattice is not rectangular/cubic; it is 6-sided (viz snowflakes), and it is hardly magnetic.
The other explanation is that a digital camera was used, and as the lake was very shiny, with possibly wind-generate ripples, you would get intense points of light coming back. As the CCD detector in the camera is scanned by the circuitry (in three passes sometimes), the intense points of light would cause encoding artifacts appearing as smears of RGB/CMY colour. each cell on the CCD is evaluated by testing a pair of cross-wires behind the device: the cells charge up after being hit by light, and the test wires draw off the charge and measure it. If the cell is over-exposed, it can cause interference when adjacent cells are sampled. This explains the hroizontal/vertical smearing. This sounds feasible to me.
Another suggestion is reflection inside the camera showing a circuit board. CCDs/PCBs are not coloured like that. The components may be non-boringly coloured, but the tracks aren’t. Intel adverts and Tron have been prettied up.
Aliens? Clever government? Possibly: anything is explainable as being ’caused by things hidden or not yet known’. Equivalent to saying concisely ‘unknown cause’.
no no no if you go towards northern utah towards king’s peak as you zoom in if you could focus on a particular shadow on this pointer 4048’01.60″ N 11018’21.27″ just zoom in and turn up the contrast. Like i had posted before this here is the proof what you wall need, the shadow has the same look as the lake only the lake is much more detailed and you see the artifacts that are also on this particular shadow but less detailed. I could go on and on explaining it to you all but we are all smart we can all read between the lines, if i read another discussion after this post with people still wondering just dont follow their stupidity.
