Hohokam Expressway, Phoenix
Saturday, 11th June 2005 by James Turnbull
Take the exit for Sky Harbour Airport from the Hohokam Expressway and you'll find this nice bit of road art. This road is not far from the double missed bridge and there's similar misalignment problems throughout the airport.
Thanks: Scott Jones
Just south is a plane in flight with a nice shadow.
I remember seeing something like this from the plane when I had a stopover in Phoenix.
Yeah, and there are plenty of other misalignment problems in the area, too, including both of the Tempe Town Lake dams (they’re inflatable!), the McClintock bridge, the L101-L202 interchange, the SP Railroad bridge, well, you get the picture.
BTW, it’s “Phoenix” and “Sky Harbor.” 🙂
Scott,
Thanks for pointing out my typo on “Phoenix”, I’ve fixed the title.
However, I’m leaving Harbour as is 😀
James: in that case, perhaps I’ll start calling you Jimmyboy, as that’s how we refer to people named James around these parts. 😛
There’s lots of other road art in Phoenix, especially at underpasses and interchanges on the Pima Highway. I submitted a multi-post of them a long time ago… but just follow the Pima Fwy and zoom in on the interchanges. They look very cool from the highway; I suppose it gives you something to admire during traffic.
