Liberty Memorial, Kansas City

With it's 217 foot tower the Liberty Memorial is the United States's only major World War I monument. Built in 1921 the monument incorporates two Sphinx sculptures, two museums and the tower, which is topped by four large stone figures representing Courage, Honour, Patriotism and Sacrifice.

Richmond has a WWI monument: the carillon. Unfortunately, we don’t have satellite imagery yet. But you can kind of see it here.
The trains and accompanying tracks just north of the memorial are going to and from “Union Station”, another famous KC landmark: http://www.unionstation.org/history.cfm.
It looks like a screaming demon skull from above. Perhaps the demon of war… 🙂
I work here as an IT Consultant. It’s definitely worth checking out-the tower and the museum below.
