God’s Wisdom
Friday, 9th September 2005 by James Turnbull
In Barre, Massachusetts there's the giant words "God's Wisdom" written on the ground. To the north is a large cross which looks like it might be drawn using white rocks and further north a building which I'm assuming is a church.
They must have been anticipating this, or else they wouldn’t have written “2005 Google” all of the place
Yeah, the letters are white gravel with trees growing there, and it was built and maintained by a church. I used to life just to the east of there, as I mentioned when I sent you a link to that several months ago…
Great thinking carl
JBrandt,
Apologies, your link must have got lost in the post somewhere as it’s not in our submissions database.
I don’t believe that the building is a church. It is the house of the guy who built this, (unless he started a church). This appears in the book about Worcester County. I drove out there and spoke to the guy who built this. He told me that he had a vision one night and recieved a message telling him to do this. He told his neighbors that he was building a runway for model airplanes, at first. He told me his kids (this was about 8yrs ago) stopped talking to him when he told them what he was doing. He said, he had to do it anyway. He claims that some people have claimed to be healed while visiting. He seemed to me to be a level headed guy when I talked to him. You should go see this in person.
I believe this man was inspired by God to do this. Praise God! to the artist rememberphilippians 4-13 “I can do all things through Christ who stregnthens me” I am looling foreward to visiting the site soon Rick R

I’ve visited the cross twice in the last month, once to just to see it, when i’d heard about it, the second time to pray for a friend. John, is quite the insprition along with his granddaughter who was there that day. What a remarkable little girl she was, and quite a pleasure to be around
I live there and it is not a church, in fact, there is no religious affiliation whatever. That’s the point , we don’t need religion, we only need to LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF.
If you click the right arrow once the house I used to live in appears right there on Williamsville Road. My address was 1466 Williamsville Road, Barre, MA. I lived there in 2000-2001.
From what I remember the guy who made that was a very devout Christian. He had a vision to do that and that’s what he did. I don’t remember any church being located there. It was set up to be a place where people could go and sit and enjoy the peacefulness of the setting.
It’s known as the “Barre Cross”.
Friends of mine live in town and help maintain the site. We are visiting with them this week from out of state and plan to visit “The Cross” today.
First, the photo above is terribly old, there have been MANY improvements over the last 4 years. I recommend this photo be updated to include the entire area.
Second, this is NOT a church, but a man inpired by God to create this message on his land. As a pilot, I hope to fly over at low altitude someday soon and get some good high resolution photos that I can later share with everyone.
There is no church affiliated with this project. All donations are appreciated. Many local neighbors are involved now and it’s a great blessing for everyone.
I just returned home from visiting this wonderful place. Let me start by saying I am not religious but this was a moving experience. John is just a sweet little old man that does not come across as being a religious zealot but is certain God is guiding him on building and mainting this cross. A must see no matter your faith or lack of.
John Hardy, the man who built this along with many helpers and the inspiration of God, is a very good friend of mine for many years. This place was totally God’s handiwork and continues to grow.
There is no physical church building affiliation to this, only the Church of God meaning all of his followers. Please continue to keep John in all of your prayers.
