Barcelona Olympic Stadium
Tuesday, 8th November 2005 by James Turnbull
The Barcelona Olympic Stadium was originally built in 1927 to host the 1929 Barcelona World's Fair and 1936 Olympics (or so they hoped, the Olympics went to Berlin that year). The stadium was then re-built in 1986 to host the 1992 Olympics (which they did host).
These days the football pitch is still used by RCD Espanyol, who play in the Spanish first division, and there is a museum about the 1992 Olympics.
Make sure you scroll around the whole area for all the different pitches and pools. These ground level photos will also help explain that crazy white tower in the thumbnail.
