Google Mars
Monday, 13th March 2006 by James Turnbull
Google have quietly launched Google Mars, a Google Maps-like tool to view Elevation, Visible and Infrared images of the Red Planet.
There's an FAQ explaining the different image modes and Google are apparently working on getting the Mars images into the Google Earth interface.
Mars FTW!
The highest resolution section is the Gusev Crater located ~6000 miles to the south east of Mlympus Mons. This is the landing site of the Spirit Rover. For scale reference, there is a perfectly round crater just to the south east of the dark patch in that section. It is ~1 – 1.5 miles in diameter.
Here is the URL to another site talking about the Gusev Crater:

Oh yeah, that high def sction is in the Infrared spectrum view, all the other spectrum images are much lower resolutions.
