Very Tall Flagpoles
Wednesday, 19th July 2006 by James Turnbull
We've previously featured Mexico's giant flags but this is the world's largest unsupported flagpole in Jordan. Narrowly beating the previous record holder in UAE, the flagpole is 126.8 metres tall, is illuminated at night and can apparently be seen from as far as 20km away. Basically, it's very big.
But it's not that big! The world's tallest supported flagpole is on the border of North and South Korea and towers over the land at 160m. Basically, it's very, very big.

You mean the UAE?
maybe its UEA in britain, you know how they spell things weird i.e. colour and centre.
😀
Uh, yeah, randall’s got it. Honest.
Hmm, Wikipedia says the flagpole shown in Amman, Jordan is the second tallest free-standing flagpole in the world, with the tallest being in Aqaba, Jordan. But for such a small town you’d think it would be easier to find. Maybe someone with better eyes than me can find it.

I believe that it’s around that fort looking thing.

Note the trees/coast/valley in the background/fort looking thing in the pictures from google. Looks like it gets lost in the trees unfortunately you cant get that close in to see.
We’ve got a big one here in Melbourne… not up to the heady heights of these others, but it’s ours!
Isn’t the first one a French flag? Certainly not a Jordan one.
Do France have army bases in Jordan or something?
Looks like the Jordan flag to me. Remember that the pictures taken are not always true color. I can definitely see the triangle part.
126.8 meters = 416 feet, aka yeah, really big! 😀
