Cervia International Kite Festival
Wednesday, 9th August 2006 by Alex Turnbull
Many places around the world hold kite-flying events, and here in Italy our trusty satellite has captured Cervia's annual International Kite Festival in full swing. There's all sorts of wonderful inflatable kites visible from up here, and the distinct shapes of their shadows should make it possible to identify which exact kites these are by comparing them to ground-level upward-looking photos.
Is that a giant Homer Simpson kite at the northern end? Actually, kite is probably the wrong word- its more of a windsock that they attach to the kite’s string. Still very cool.
The kite at the north end is team “No Limit”‘s Bert. You can see it here (with Earnie): . Towards the southern end these are mostly giant inflatable Peter Lynn kites: I think I can make out the octopus, a yellow Penguin and maybe a ray.
hey I thought it was Homer Sipmson too! haha thats awesome!
Looks like there’s an updated image for Cervia that no longer has the kites… 🙁
