The Langoliers

Oh dear, it appears that some tardy time-travellers aboard these planes at Peoria Airport have been eaten by The Langoliers!
(Although the movie was actually filmed at Bangor International Airport, I understand that no airport escapes the all-consuming wrath of the Langoliers. So that must be what we're looking at.)

i dont get it…what makes you say that the Langoliers are eating these planes, maybe i just cant see it as well on my computer…
Um, just because those look like the remains of a couple of planes that have been demolished somehow…? Maybe describing it as “disintegrated planes would have been a better idea. Sorry!
Technically if the planes had been consumed by the langoliers then the photo would be black as the Langoliers eat EVERYTHING, not just planes.
Thats funny, the movie was on german television just yesterday (of course not for the first time…just to be sure). And i just can’t remember why i used to like it…the acting is just hilarious.
It’s all part of the fun. Why don’t the langoliers eat each other?

I’m thinking that the technical reason for these missing planes is something to the effect of the temperture on the ground. The planes were sitting there loading passengers shortly before the picture was taken, and because they were sitting there so long, the shadow cooled the concrete to a degree that’s noticeably different….??? Upon a closer look, I see that the middle of the “shadow” is kind of …not there….warmed up…so now I’m thinking that maybe they washed the planes, loaded the passengers, and because the temp was cooler in the shadow the concrete was still wet from the washing, where the warm uncovered area evaporated already.

i think the reason for the dark spots on the ground was water from washing the planes, notice how there is none in the middle, just on the outsides.

The shadowing you are seeing is from the condensation formed by the skin of the aircraft. At altitude, the aircraft is “cold Soaked” to very cold Temps. When the aircraft returns to warmer air, condensation forms like that on a pop can in the summer and drips onto the ramp.
You found the legendary Peoria Death Ray… The planes were literally vaporized, leaving nothing behind but their shadows… like an atomic bomb…
