God’s Ark of Safety
Thursday, 13th September 2007 by Alex Turnbull
This is God's Ark of Safety in Frostburg, Maryland. The brainchild of Pastor Richard Greene, this is a church... that's also a full-size replica of Noah's Ark.1
Well it would be... if Pastor Greene had ever gotten round to finishing it. Construction began all the way back in 1976, and even today it's little more than a frame. Clearly the Pastor isn't expecting the next Great Flood to happen anytime soon.
More at the official site and the Wikipedia page. Thanks to Aprillo and Eric Bennett.

Apparently being constructed "to the specifications" of Noah's original, the new model will supposedly be "450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high". ↩︎
My wife and I visited this site while on our honeymoon in April of 1979, and even then it was just a collection of concrete footers. However, it was awesome to imagine the scale of the original Noah’s Ark from what was there.
He should have gotten the animals to help out, like Steve Carrell.
I drove past it 127 times on my way to DC from Columbus Ohio. It’s just a bunch of steel girders. It has a sign that says “under construction!” or something, but has not changed in 20 years.
I imagine it’s a good money maker.
Well, it did take Noah 100 years to built his, so this guy’s right on schedule.
Where’d he get his blueprints?
Here in Brighton UK, we have a church that is built to the specifications of Noah’s Ark, too – and it’s finished! Unfortunately it is not that easy to see via the satellite, but here it is. View Larger Map
How can you make a “full-sized replica” of something which probably didn’t exist, and if it did exist no one knows how big it was or how it was constructed!
Maybe Bill Cosby gave him the specs.

In Winston Oregon is a big warehouse which has been converted to resemble the Ark. Inside is a gift shop, restaurant, and “museum” run by religious zealots. The gift shop and restaurant are great fun. The menus have a note about how they used to only offer vegetarian meals, but have given in and will serve up God’s creatures on request. I have never paid to take the museum tour, though it is tempting. It is just down the road from Wildlife Safari a nice drive-through private zoo.

well, as long as there is gift shop aroud, Lord will be pleased.
Now how is dear pastor going to find all the animals? since the time of original Noah’s Ark, we learned more about genetics and biological diversity of life.
I live near there and have been past it many times. As far as I can remember its been there for at least 10 years and hasn’t changed one bit.
