New Imagery in Google Earth October 07. Again.

In a rather unusual move, Google has just updated their image database for the second time this month! Frank at the Google Earth Blog has the full-rundown, but here's a short list of some of the places which have seen updates to whet your appetite.
- Germany
- Netherlands
- Armenia
- Tunisia
- Syria
- Oregon, USA
- Marshall Islands
- French Polynesia
- The entire state of North Carolina, USA
- Leeds, UK
- Reykjavik, Iceland
- Derby, England
- Pennsylvania
- Niagara Falls
Best of all, it appears that this latest update has already made its way onto Google Maps! So as usual, get exploring, and remember to send us what you find!

sad to say but north carolina, at least the university of north carolina at chapel hill, has yet to be updated in google maps
They also appear to have put cyan lines around (different areas in) cities in the UK. Unless I’m being oblivious and it’s been like that for ages.
Oh, and also the GE imagery for some other parts of the UK appears to have been updated. Looking round where my home is in Leamington Spa, the information I can gather from the picture suggests it is more recent than it used to be. My old school also has more buildings tacked on to it!
I live in Leeds and cannot see anything updated on Google Maps, there’s an old peoples home near me that was built 7 years ago that still isn’t built on there (same stage as it was when Google Earth launched)
@ everybody – it appears from the comments at the g-earth blog, that some of the imagery has simply been cleaned up, rather than completely replaced.

Yes sorry people, it appears that the updated imagery hasn’t yet made it to Google Maps, only Earth.
When I checked, I looked at Niagara Falls, where (it turns out) they updated the 3D model, and not the imagery.
Is the 3D model of Falling Water (in Mill Run, PA) new to Google Earth?
Hmm….central NC is still the same in Earth.
randall, check in Earth. Carrboro has been updated, as has most of RTP.

It appears the entire county of Somerset, and the eastern half of Devon has been updated too, looks very recent as well.

Which part of Leeds has been updated? I live in the centre of Leeds (LS1) and my apartment still hasn’t been built and has the same image.
North Carolina is hi-res in Earth but not in Google Maps yet. Also, the latest update of the Google Earth Linux client seems to having vastly improved graphics rendering. It’s noticably a LOT smoother when you rotate around say a mountain range or hilly terrain.
oh, if you switch to StreetView in maps, the little orange man is now a witch. if you move the man around its a witch on a broomstick. nice!
Neil B All of Leeds has been done (I live 4 miles outside the centre and it’s been done – LS18), looks like summer 2006. Not updated on Google Maps just on Google Earth at the moment
Finally, my home town in Pennsylvania is in high-resolution. The images appear to be from around 2003, though.
