House Fire
Monday, 7th July 2008 by Rob
Disaster has struck at a house in the small town of Gibson, Arkansas, as a home is engulfed in flames. There are several fire engines on the scene, but it's probably too late to save the building since the flames are clearly visible inside the walls and on the roof.
Fire-fighters are perched on top of one of the engines, and look to be spraying water at the other side of the house from where the flames are, so it could be that they are trying to save another building from catching fire - perhaps this unfinished house just behind it?
The Street View car looks to have gone to a lot of effort to capture the fire - despite being stopped in its tracks by various roadblocks, it still manages to cover most of the roads - even when a fire engine blocks its path!
From the way the pictures were taken, it looks like the car has had to continually manoeuvre to avoid getting in the way of the emergency services, or driving on the fire hose that stretches all the way down the street.
Unfortunately I could find no reference to the fire on the web, but sincerely hope that nobody was harmed by it.
Thanks: Flashmojo (who claims he can actually be seen looking at the fire over a nearby fence!)
The driver ploughs on through the smoke cloud from the fire too.
It’s somewhat odd that the fire has attracted relatively few spectators. There are four people on the opposite corner of Butterfly and Eagle Point, three people on the front yard of a house a bit farther south on Eagle Point, and of course Flashmojo and one other person looking over a fence. One would think that a major fire would have attracted quite a crowd, especially since this seems like a quiet upscale neighborhood where not much out of the ordinary is likely to happen. Could this be during a workday when not many people are home?
The house is almost definitely a write-off, that’s usually inevitable when a fire burns through the roof.
Its amazing, nearly every single house in that area has a pick-up truck. Are they all lumberjacks or something?
Rob – i’ll think you’ll find they are all Americans. They have probably all got guns aswell. And big tellys.
I think you’ll find they’re “TVs” Cookie…
Fires can be such a devastating disaster. It’s horrible to see a family lose everything to a fire. I couldn’t imagine the feeling.
It appears google removed the streetview pics for that entire area
They are great model, a fireman are very strong and brave to help people that needs them. They a strong abilities to save people even in the time of danger. I salute and admire them.
