Google Sightseeing writer set to climb Africa’s tallest volcano
Thursday, 30th August 2012 by Alex Turnbull
Two years ago our very own Noel Ballantyne wrote an article for Volcano Week 5 about Mount Kilimanjaro, a dormant stratovolcano in Tanzania that at 5,893 metres is the highest mountain in Africa.
At the time, Noel wrote of the thousands of tourists who climb Kilimanjaro every year for charity, and we're very proud to say that Noel has since decided to join those brave souls and will himself be climbing Kilimanjaro in January 2013!
"The Kilimanjaro Challenge" that Noel intends to complete is in aid of Focus Ireland, a registered charity that works to prevent homelessness, and Noel is seeking donations through his fundraising page.
You can donate to Noel's Kilimanjaro challenge here.
Good luck Noel!
That’s great!! Good luck Noel! Hope you have a great time!!
Good luck, Noel!
Fantastic! Best of luck, Noel!
Thank you Alex, James, Chris, Tammo and Kyle.
I still have to raise some money for the charity. But should I get there, there will be a revisited Kilimanjaro blog post or two.
Really looking forward to doing this. I hope all the training pays off.
Hey Noel, hope your climb went well 🙂 how much did you raise in the end? Vikx
