On this day: The Eiffel Tower Opened
Tuesday, 6th May 2014 by Ian Brown
On May 6, 1889, the Eiffel Tower was opened to the public. Serving as the entry gate to the World's Fair, the Eiffel Tower was the tallest man-made structure in the world for the next 41 years. With around 7 million visitors each year it is one of the world's busiest paid attractions, though it's likely that you'll spend more time queuing to get in than you will at one of the viewing platforms.
