On this day: W.B. Yeats Was Born
Friday, 13th June 2014 by Ian Brown
On June 13, 1865, Irish poet W.B. Yeats was born in Dublin. His family soon relocated to Sligo, where he is honoured with a statue on Stephen Street (at least we think it's him - Google blurred his face for privacy reasons!) He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1923, which he saw as a recognition of Irish literature as a movement rather than an individual achievement.
